December 13, 2010 (KATAKAMI / RIA NOVOSTI) --- Iran's Atomic energy chief Ali Akbar Salehi was appointed acting foreign minister on Monday, the IRNA news agency reported.
Salehi is also the Islamic Republic's Vice President.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave no reasons as to why he had sacked former foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who is currently on a visit in Senegal.
Mottaki was appointed foreign minister in 2005. (*)
